The map, which breaks down, state-by-state, the most common hotspots for Missed Connections posted on Craigslist, has been making a stir on the web over the past couple of days. Denizens of states across country came away with their own interpretations, questions and repudiations. Is it the saddest map in America? Or not.

In a way, Craigslist was the first social networking site. Think back to reading those Missed Connections when you were supposed to be working back in the '90s. Craigslist is still around, and it's still one of the best ways to buy and sell used items. Before...and yes, even after "Storage Wars", Craigslist will still be here.

Craigslist is suing companies for using housing ads posted by its users to create maps, Legal experts are divided as to whether Craigslist’s claims of copyright infringement are valid. Craigslist claims, “Each user-generated posting on the craigslist website is itself an original work of creative expression, as it includes unique written descriptions ....” If you've ever read some of the Missed Connections or other works of prose on the site, surely, you'd have to agree!
