The First 10 Things to Do When Getting Started on Twitter | Communications Major | Scoop.it

With rumors running rampant that GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney may have actually bought Twitter followers (you can do that you know), let's give the Mittster the benefit of the doubt. What if there really are 925,000 new Twitter users who came onto the site over the weekend (or Twitter users with relatively few Tweets to Number of People They're Following ratio: i.e., 4:1,500). Maybe these folks, and other newbies to Twitter, can get more engaged by following these tips.

I Want to Live in Amercia! How Mitt Romney’s iPhone App Typo Explains the Internet

I Want to Live in Amercia! How Mitt Romney’s iPhone App Typo Explains the Internet | Communications Major | Scoop.it

To be fair to Mitt Romney, his copywriters and his proofreaders—all of whom allowed a typo spelling “America” as “Amercia” into Romney’s new iPhone app—“America” is kind of weird word. But in the digital age, typos aren't quite the diaster they used to be.

Divide and Discriminate: NOM's Strategy to Pit Blacks vs. Gays

Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich are aligned with one of the most prominent groups fighting against same-sex marriage - the National Organization for Marriage (NOM). Last week an internal memo revelaed the group's plans to pit blacks against gays, manipulate Hispanic voters by making the exclusion of gay people from marriage “a key badge of Latino identity," and paint President Obama as a "social radical."

Etch A Sketch: A Symbol of Second Chances | Communications Major | Scoop.it

To millions of Americans, the Etch A Sketch has offered a life lesson: No matter how badly you screw up, you can always make a fresh start. But when an aide to presidential hopeful Mitt Romney said the Romney campaign could always "kind of shake it up and restart all over again," the Etch A Sketch metaphor backfired.

Santorum Wrongly Declares English is America's Official Language

Santorum Wrongly Declares English is America's Official Language | Communications Major | Scoop.it

GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum found himself in damage-control mode on Thursday after calling English primacy a condition for Puerto Rican statehood. But, there is no rule in the Constitution requiring the adoption of English for the admittance of new states, and the United States does not have an official language. The majority of people living in Puerto Rico speak Spanish as a first language.

Is She Running for President? You Betcha!

Is She Running for President? You Betcha! | Communications Major | Scoop.it

Just in case you thought Sarah Palin "dropping out" of speculation that she would run for President in 2012 late last year was serious, mark this date and item from @YahooNews down somewhere. Why would Palin expose herself to months of ridicule as part of the GOP clown car primaries and give up cushy paying day job at FOX News when she can swan in, say in June or July, and cause so much chaos?

She's the darling of the Tea Party and her lack of smarts won't hurt her as much this time around. After all, Rick Santorum has already said you're a snob if you go to college. [Note: We understand Palin has a 4-year degree from somewhere, but hey, it doesn't count if you never really use it!]

Ann Romney has been portrayed as the loving wife standing behind Mitt throughout his presidential campaign, but in a Good Morning America interview this week, she may have hurt rather than helped her husband's image—at least in the Twittersphere- when she referred to those clamoring to see more than one-year of the Romneys tax returns as "you people"

Santorum Denies Calling Obama the N-Word

Santorum Denies Calling Obama the N-Word | Communications Major | Scoop.it

The Internet was buzzing on Friday morning that Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum may have almost dropped the n-bomb on President Barack Obama. Speaking to a group of voters in Janesville, Wisconsin on Wednesday, the candidate seemed to catch himself before using a word that sounds like “n*gger” to describe the president.

First it was "pink bowling balls," now this. I don't know about you and your experiences with bigots, but where homophobia flows, racism is usually not too far behind.

Santorum Shirtless at Puerto Rican Resort Hosting All-Gay Cruise

File this under "Politics Makes Strange Bedfellows". GOP presidential candidate and notorious homophobe Rick Santorum booked himself into a swanky Puerto Rican resort for a little R&R. His new Secret Service detail was able to keep gawkers - both straight and gay - at a distance, but some were not so far off that they couldn't snap Santorum catching some rays. It just so happened that the camera-toting tourists were an all-male boatload from an Atlantis Cruise, also staying at the same resort. No word yet on whether Santorum has abruptly checked out.

The New Yorker Magazine Cover Mocks Mitt Romney Dog on Roof Incident

The New Yorker Magazine Cover Mocks Mitt Romney Dog on Roof Incident | Communications Major | Scoop.it

Next week's cover on The New Yorker magazine mocks the now infamous Mitt Romney "dog on car roof "incident. It even features Rick Santorum as the late Romney dog Seamus. (Romney's "dog on car roof" escapade occurred in 1983). While anti-Romney forces from every angle have been pointing to this incident as Romney being "uncaring" at least and "inhumane" at worst, dog lovers in particular, will probably not be casting many votes for Mitt Romney.
