Last night, millions of Californians who sleep next to their mobile phone were woken up by an Amber Alert, While this article says I'm a horrible person for shutting off any future Amber alerts on my iPhone (I had no idea it was activated in the first place), consider this: the Amber Alert that woke California has not led to capture of the kidnapper. It also might be put to better use if it was activated only in the vicinity of where the child abduction has occurred. Waking people 500 miles away was pretty pointless and has only resulted in a people calling each other names on message boards all day.
