The psychological evidence is quite clear: using a cell phone while you're driving is distracting. Conversing with someone on the phone imposes a cognitive strain that makes it harder for the brain to concentrate on other tasks. Hands-free systems keep drivers eyes on the road, but they don't do much to reduce their level of distraction. No matter how you cut it, the case for banning drivers from using mobile phones is a strong one. What's less clear is whether or not these bans actually reduce road accidents.

According to this infographic, there are more active cell phones in the US than people. Some 25% of cell phone users have sent a text while having sex, 75% use their phones for texting or talking while driving. And these are just a few of the stats we'll reveal before we get to how many people use their phones while in the bathroom. Heck, 20% of us admit to having dropped our cell phone in the toilet! If you think our cell phone manners are bad in general, guess what? They're even worse than you think!
